BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide with the sequence Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val, corresponding to a partial sequence of Body Protection Compound, a protein originally characterised in human gastric juice. This 10mg presentation is the higher-strength research format, supplied in the same single lyophilised vial as the 5mg. Its most distinctive physicochemical property is hydrolytic stability at low pH: unlike almost every peptide of comparable length, BPC-157 resists degradation in gastric juice, a characteristic attributed to its proline-rich, conformationally constrained backbone. Mechanistic research has focused on the VEGF signalling axis and on focal adhesion kinase and paxillin phosphorylation in cultured fibroblasts. Human evidence remains thin, with no adequately powered randomised controlled trial. Supplied as lyophilised powder.
